First Reader Mail EVER!!!

Ok people, it is official... this is the first ever reader mail I have received and I would be lying if I didn't say I was excited. Here it goes....

So I noticed that in one of your latest blogs that you were requesting your “readers” to e-mail you at your specially designed e-mail address for your “famous blog”! You do a good job on setting up your posts but I was just wondering if you could include more family type of stuff?
- Scott
Ok, so as a disclaimer, this may or may not be my uncle (i.e. it is), so that would be why there's some interest in family related stuff. That being said, I think that is a really good idea. I mean, my blog is primarily a fashion blog, with other random tidbits I throw in that I like. But I was realizing the other day, that I could try to expand to other areas occasionally to keep some interest alive in more readers. And that's why I'm so glad Heather (p.s, How much did you lover her?!) did a blog about music, because music appeals to A LOT of people. So, in short, yes I will try to include other aspects besides fashion, which includes family stuff. Although, to my credit, my immediate family is pretty boring, no offense ;] One time, I told my dad I wished we were a reality show, and he said no one would watch because we're not interested and everyone would be bored of our life. Gee, thanks dad.

One down, Five to go

I got accepted to Chaminade University of Honolulu and they even said I qualified for a scholarship that deducts $6,000 a year because of my cumulative GPA. Obviously I have not offically accepted as I want to see who else accepts/rejets me before I make my choice, but it's nice to know I have a fallback option in case my first choice does not work out.

Heather's Debut!

Hey everyone! I can't even begin to tell you what a great honor it is for me to be asked to be a guest blogger for Ally. This is so cool! But anyways, I'm sure senior year stress has been mentioned numerous times on this blog seeing that it comes up for me at least ten times a day in my daily conversations. Long story short, senior year translates to death no matter what region of the U.S. you come from. (Sorry for you younger readers out there). With that being said, I don't know about you guys, but when I feel stressed I usually do two things: eat my feelings out and listen to some music. For me, the latter has become a necessity--whether it's oldies or pop, alternative or hip-hop, I just can't live without it. Now, while I am a big rap and hip-hop fan, I've lately been really into alternative. I mean, how can you possibly go wrong with a bunch of British guys in a band?? Yeah, I didn't think you could. If you haven't heard much of this genre, I have some bands here that you just might like.

One of my all time favorite bands is the Arctic Monkeys. Not only do they have a really cool name, but their music is absolutely phenomenal! This British band's upbeat and electric music makes sure you are off your feet dancing. Well, at least for me. Maybe it's because I just love them so much. I get overly excited like that. Try listening to their songs "Mardy Bum," "Fluorescent Adolescent," and "When the Sun Goes Down" off of their album Favourite Worst Nightmare and tell me what you think.

Another absolute fave of mine is another band from the UK called MUSE. You may have heard of them or may have not, but they are all the rave here in New England. I don't know what it is about them that makes my heart go thump whenever I hear a beat from their album Black Holes and Revelations. Perhaps its the futuristic nature of the music and its ultra-suave beat that gets me going. The lead singer's voice is just so aesthetically pleasing, I guess. Imagine a modern and cooler version of the 80's hit band Depeche Mode. Their songs "Starlight" and "Supermassive Black Hole" are their most popular tunes as well as two of my favorites. Check em out!!! You'll love it fo sho.

With their new album Sawdust out, The Killers are on the rise again. Thank God for that! I've been missing this band since their last album Sam's Town's release. I remember I first heard their music on an episode of The O.C. See, they're even cool enough to go on that show--that has to say something about them, right? You are probably familiar with "Mr. Brightside" or "Somebody Told Me," but I definitely recommend checking out some of their other songs like "Uncle Johnny" and "Read My Mind." Its indie beat will make you fall in love with the lead singer Brandon Flowers in a heartbeat.

So, those are three bands I would recommend for you as of now. Your homework is to go listen to them ASAP. Just kidding, this isn't school! But seriously, feedback is welcome. I sincerely hope you guys like it!

Introducing Heather Stephanie Mayer!

Ms. Mayer is pretty much my best friend, a resident of Concord, MA, and your guest blogger for tomorrow. She is also very akin to me, actually, and sometimes I swear we are psychic. I do not know to what extent Heather will or will not introduce herself, but I'll try to give you the basics. We met each other when she transferred to my school in the 7th grade and have been friends ever since, even after she moved to Buffalo, NY (we visited her there) and then to Concord. She loves things like Zac Efron, Hairspray, the 50's and 60's, Spanish, Chinese food, a whole spectrum of different music types (anything from Britney Spears to Kiss to Spice Girls to Queen to the Hush Sound and everything in between), Johnny Depp, shopping, the color pink, movies, Gossip Girl, That 70's Show, and so much more. She's really funny and sarcastic (not unlike me) and I know she will do a fab job guest blogging. Give her a gracious welcome please ( I feel like a teacher telling her kids to be nice to the sub. But never fear, I know you guys will do great ;]). I am also unsure how often I will have a guest blogger (Heather' schedule is more loaded than me because she is a stellar student and involved in more extracurriculars so the fact that she even agreed to do this is simply mahvelous, dahling), or if it will always be Heather (most likely, because I know she will do a fab job, but then again I am not going to completely close it immediately). So in other words, enjoy your blog adventure with Heather tomorrow!

Ally Hearts... something for a cause (and celebrities!)

Gwen Stefani

Orlando Bloom

Reese Witherspoon

I know there are a lot of causes out there that need attention and aid, and as people who are more fortunate than others, we have an obligation to help with our time or talent or treasure. And by treasure I mean cold hard cash. I find the latter is the easiest and most effective way to get me personally to help, and we all know I have no will power when it comes to buying something I like.

The above pictures are my top three picks from the cards that several celebs designed for Cards for a Cause, and these all support the EM Medical Research Foundation.

A pack of eight cards is $20 and can be purchased here.

Thanksgiving Outfits

Alright, alright I know Thanksgiving already passed. But. That post that I had started earlier about my dream Christmas wardrobe was initially intended to be a Thanksgiving Outfit post. But then for some reason my brain switched over to Christmas (I must be overly excited) and then I did that (before it got deleted). So here is what I would have worn on Thanksgiving....

This is a dressed down version of a Thanksgiving outfit, and not unlike what I actually wore (jeans and a purple sweater shirt). I love the cute jacket and could love the jeans if they were in a darker wash. As a disclaimer I normally abhor yellow, but it goes well with this outfit so I won't bash it this time. My favorite part of this whole outfit is the shoes, which really pop because there is no other red in the outfit. This is a tactic that I love, yet am not bold enough to try (the whole purposely mismatching shoes with your outfit). Anyways, this whole outfit costs about $116.99

I was going to do a dressy version of an outfit, but I realized it fits better into Christmas, so I'll just do another Christmas blog, in smaller increments, and showcase it then.

I'm trying this new thing

Where I just do small little posts whenever I have the time and then I just post them later on, when I'd like to post them. Think of them as blog tidbits, or like Blog Cereal, or whatever food you can think of that is so small you practically feel cheated when you eat it...except you will not feel cheated from my blogs, you will feel satisfied. Duh. Anyways....

I rather love these. As I've already said, I love zines. And these are mini zines that you can color!! Que fabuloso! Plus, as an added bonus, they were only like sixty cents, but they are so cute that they sold out. But I'm sure they can't be terribly expensive or hard to make. My only qualm would be if you actually wanted to color them you could not even use crayons, because the zine is so small and crayons are fat in comparison. So I guess you'd have to use really fine-tip markers or pens. But it's a small price to pay.

Nothing Makes Me More Livid....

Then when I blog and it's a longer one, but it's marvelous....but then it has so much text and words on it that it slows to a glacial crawl and I cannot edit anything so then I just delete it. Which pretty much happened when I tried to do a Dream Christmas Wardrobe post that I was quite proud of, actually. But I digress... I just have a couple of notes for you guys.

  • I created an email address specifically for this blog, so you guys can direct all your reader mail there. It is grabmynotebook@yahoo.com. Right now there is exactly zero emails in there, so please make the inbox feel better by sending in reader mail! I'd love it!
  • Secondly, there is a very good chance there will be a guest blogger this Friday, 11/30. Be on the lookout, I am sure you will love her!
  • I officially sent in my last college application Saturday the 24th, and it is very relieving. Now I just wait in eager anticipation for replies. Which is also considerably nerve-racking, I hate suspense.
  • Lastly, I have just discovered this marvel of a woman and her magazine...It is called Amelia's Magazine and this woman (presumably Amelia) is publisher, editor, and art director of her own magazine. It costs 9 pounds if you pre-order (or 18 USD) and ten pounds (20 USD) afterwards. I think that price is worth it though, considering a) it comes from London, and b) is practically handmade and generally runs about 250 pages (it's practically more a book than a magazine that you get twice a year). Her covers alone are marvelous, I can only dream of the inside. Below are some of my fave covers, unfortch most of them are sold out...

Issue One (sold out)

Issue Two (sold out) (This is actual laser-cut paper!)

Issue Three (sold out)

Issue 4 (10 pounds) (it's scratch and sniff!)

Issue 5 (ten pounds) (it's supposedly swaroski encrusted)

There are a few more, all available for sail at her website or Barnes and Noble.

I have something new, maybe you've heard of it?

It's called stay-at-home-and-work-on-college-apps-itus :] It's an epidemic actually... I just thought I'd take a few minutes here to write you guys a quick note before it's off to seriously doing college apps...

My 18th birthday celebration was "fab fabbity fab" as I told one of my firends. If you would like to see more pictures of said event, please click here.

Whilst shopping during my birthday celebration, we went to Nordstrom's, and I got the above clutch that I blogged about earlier in a post about purple things. I lurrrvve it, and it was on sale for $15.90 (like half price!). So it's a win-win.

Also whilst shopping, I purchased the iPod Touch for myself, and I am in lurve with that too. As you can only imagine... It's practically the frontier of MP3 players, and watch, I'll be saying that in 6 months when they come up with a new one ;] But seriously, I honestly would like to know how they could top this generation of iPods?

Today is my mommy's birthday :] Just thought you oughtta know!

I have added some advertisements on my blog, they are discreet ones at the top of the page. Please feel free to click them all day long, even if you do not purchase what they are advertising :]

And lastly, I am seriously sad that I do not come on and blog on a normal rate that I normally would :[ But school has seriously overtaken my life. Well, that and work. But. I always say that once such and such is over, I will come back to blogging, but then something new pops up. Like I thought once I finished college apps, I'd be good, but I have to use my extra time once they are done to do things like read Plato for English class and another book for Psychology and study for Physics (which I am crap at) and work on scholarships and work and do all my other homework and I don't know, occasionally sleep :/ But that being said, I will honestly try to blog as much as possible. And thank you to all the regualr readers, you make this happen by reading and inspiring me to keep writing :]

Oops, I lied, there's one more thing :] A preview of what is to come should I ever be able to get on again...

  • Perhaps a guest blogger? :]
  • Thanksgiving Outfits
  • A Wedding Post
  • Guys' Clothing
  • Little Black Bag
  • Harajuku Lovers
  • Ally Hearts Something for a Good Cause (and celebrities!)
  • Reader's Mail

P.S - For the last one to actually happen, I actually need reader mail! So please please send me some, anything really, to parfaitdawncer@hotmail.com And then spread the word and tell everyone you know to send me stuff too! :] If you need ideas of what sort of things Reader Mail is, click here. If you go three down, that one is from me! (it's about purse necessities, natch).

Anywhoot, that is all for now, talk to you all soon I hope! HugHugKissKiss
