My savior came...

in the form of my brother's friend's dad. My laptop savior, I mean. He is a computer whiz and hooked up the wireless router in our house, so I can finally get the internet on my laptop, which I am happily typing away on. Now I can be on all the time, blogging away. Or, on my latest obsession, Goodreads.
For those of you who I haven't already stalked so that you can add me as a friend, it's a website where you can review books you have read, put what you are currently reading, and put what books you want to read.

What I'm Currently Reading, $17.13

And don't forget, www.goodreads.com

Remember way back when...

When I asked if there were any trends you hated or just stuck out in your memory? Well one of my esteemed readers, who also happens to be my aunt (I'm pretty sure 95% of my readership is family) had this to say:
Not to mention the "Frankie says relax" t-shirts, some fluorescent, that were seen at Nathaniel Narbonne high school.
And when I told her I had to look up "Frankie Says Relax" on urbandictionary.com, she said:
Well, if it didn't give you a thorough explanation. Let me explain. There was this British band called "Frankie Goes To Hollywood". They had a song that went "Relax, don't do it.....blah blah blah blah blah". They were one hit wonders.
And all this was in the back of my mind when I ran into the 80's explosion at Target.

They had this shirt, which sounds like it's pretty apt to the one from my aunt's hey day. In neon pink no less. I understand neon was pretty big back then too. Oh, but there's more. On the back, it says, "Don't Do It". Oh yes, you can believe I bought this shirt. $9.99

And lest we stop there, I also saw this hoodie hanging on the same wall. In case you can't tell, the graphic is done in bright neon too. So between these two tops, the sequin frenzy at Old Navy, and the fact that every time I see Rihanna she looks like she stepped out of a Madonna/80's era video, I think I can safely say that time period is coming back with a vengeance. $19.99

I failed to realize....

what a comedy show my comments had become on my previous post. Haha.

Ok, so my never ending search for/discussion of gladiator shoes continues. I actually don't mind these, especially for the price. But then I read the reviews (usually a good idea for online purchases, by the way) and almost every single person said the straps either broke or stretched out. Boo! $14.99

These are slightly ok as well in my book. Pros: Metallic sheen! Pinkish purple in color! Con:$29.95

I am now on the hunt for some really cute wedges ever since I saw my co-worker wearing some super cute ones with flowers etched into the heel. The ones above are a bit pricey, but among some of the lesser ugly ones I saw. And they almost resemble gladiatorish wedges. $79.95

These are not gladiator shoes or wedges. But they sparkle, have a heel, and are apparently lavender in color. So excuse me if I just saw the Moulon Rouge video with Christina Aguilera (sp?) and P!nk and Maya and Lil' Kim. And I want everything to be bedazzled and sparkly. $88.95

These are wedges. And I am glad you can no longer purchase them, because they are hideous. No longer available

Funny how things come full circle

*First may I say, sorry for my absence. This time it was due to being sick with a sore throat and aching ears that I'm still trying to get over. Do you know how suckular it is to be sick during the summer? Very, that's how!*

On August 6, 2007 I wrote a blog post about all the things I wanted, which oddly enough is something I spend way too much time thinking about. But I'm working on it. And I figured you'd be oh so curious as to how that all worked out. And when I say curious, I'm sure some of you could care less, but that's what I'm writing about today! =)

In my post last year I wrote about wanting a Blackberry. Or need I remind you all of my Inspector Gadget Control Book Fetish. Well, in short, I got my Blackberry. Except instead of the Blackberry 8700g, I got the more updated Blackberry Curve (8320) model. It's slimmer and sleeker and I lovvveeee it. I use the camera and it even takes clear pictures for a camera phone. I use the to-do list for all sorts of things I don't want to forget. I write notes to myself (I have an ongoing "to do this summer" note). I text like a madwoman, and it even has this cool feature where it shows what the person said last under the text I am writing. I haven't had too many experiences with dropped calls. All in all, it's awesome. And I am proud to say I paid for it all on my own and pay the bill every month, since my dad wouldn't, which is a separate issue. =)

I also wrote about wanting a laptop. Which is sort of an understatement since I've wanted one ever since the third grade. The laptop is the only thing on the list that I didn't pay for myself. But I love love love it too. It's a Toshiba A215-S5849. Regrettably, at this point it is virtually useless since at our house we do not have wireless Internet, so I can't even register Spyware, let alone go on Myspace. Thus far I have only picked my desktop wallpaper (a scene of LA at night that reminds me of the Hills) and played Solitaire. My dad is working on getting a wireless router, but he has to talk to the geek squad about that (go figure) and he never buys something without researching adequately (which both makes sense to me and infuriates me, I want everything done ten minutes ago).

The Sedu was actually the first thing I bought after the aforementioned blog post. It was back when I was low on funds and it sent me in the hole -$25, but other than that it has been worth it. This straightener straightens my very curly and frizzy hair into a shiny thick frenzy of straightness. It transcends all the crappy $25 straighteners I have bought in the past.
Of course the next thing I want to buy would be my biggest purchase yet, a car. I found an even cheaper jetta on craigs list than the one I posted about before, but I still need to take a look at it, and see how much insurance would cost, and of course, that little detail of convincing my parents it would be a good idea for me to buy a car. The last is the hardest of course, but it would be my own money of course. If you think I should get a car, kindly vote yes in the comments section =)

Lime and Vera Wang Princess

I'm back, after a brief hiatus where we had seven people competing for the computer instead of four.
So, one Friday awhile ago, my friends and I went out to get Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) which I spritzed generously with lime, and then we went to the mall where we perused the fragrances at Nordstrom. My third choice would be Daisy by Marc Jacobs, my second choice would be Juicy by Juicy Couture, and my first choice would be:

Princess by Vera Wang. I will tell you the reason why, though it is silly. I smelt the other two, and thought they both smelled like old lady perfumes. Although, Juicy Couture tends to smell ok after it settles, which is why I bought a mini bottle of it (and I mean mini!) from target for 12.99. Anyways, I like Princess because the first note that hit me smelt like this smell that was reminiscent of one I had smelled on the ride Soarin' Over California in Disney's California Adventures. Like woods or something. Water Lily, Lady Apple, Mandarin Meringue, Golden Apricot Skin, Ripe Pink Guava, Tahitian Flower, Wild Tuberose, Dark Chocolate, Pink Frosting Accord, Precious Amber, Forbidden Woods, Royal Musk Captive, Chiffon Vanilla <--- Those are all the notes in the fragrance, and I LOVE THEM ALL. Maybe what I was smelling was "forbidden woods". $52

Ok, I know I said this one was old ladyish, BUT I am still a sucker for packaging, and how can you turn down a baby pouch to put the ring in and the pop-tastic daisy? Plus, it's cheaper than the actual fragrance! $30
