My Chardin Room From Last Year

Finally, a look into my last room! I warn you it's 9 minutes long so if you think you're not interested I won't be hurt ;)

Responsibility doesn't end at conception, it takes courage to raise a child

Never have I ever had to question what it was like to live without a father. And I can thank my dad for that, not that there was ever a question that he wouldn't stay. Did I think it sucked to write that spelling word I got wrong five times more until I got it right? Of course. But I don't think my life would be the same without my devoted, caring, sympathetic, enthusiastic, funny, witty daddy.

He was the one I could call for at night when I had nightmares to assure me the monsters were gone. And he was the one I could ask for math help from. He was the one who helped me question teachers when I knew I was right and how to respect adults because they are older and wiser. He attempted to teach me how to ride a bike and sat in the passenger's seat white knuckling the dash board while I haphazardly drove around parking lots learning to drive. He taught me the value of a dollar and hard work, and was there to see me earn first paychecks and lease my own car. He stood by me when a date didn't show up and hugged me when the bullies surrounded me. He saw me off to two years of college and welcomed me home for two summers. He helped me foster my writing and encouraged my humor.
I love you dad. I love you for all that you have given me, and all that you have sacrificed for me. Every day is your day to shine in the parenting department, God Bless you.

Resident Assistant World-The Lost Confession

I'm tired of my legs reflecting off of the pavement!

I am pretty sure I said this or something similar like a month ago when we had the one sunny day in May. But literally friends, my legs were so white, that they looked like computer paper and something had to be done.

That's when I picked up Nivea Sun-Kissed Beautiful Legs. I was sceptical it was going to work since it almost seems too good to be true, and this sort of item is marketed specifically for people like me, let's be honest. But I tried it, and after the first day I was hooked. It honestly does gradually tan me while simultaneously smoothing my legs so I have to shave less (shaving more often messes up the tanning process). The first day after I used it (I apply right after I've shaved) my legs were still 100% smooth 24 hours after the shower. I do notice that I have to shave less. It also smells really delicious, which I didn't expect, and does not take long to dry at all (it can stain clothes though so be careful!) My only warning is that it does tend to tan your hands and palms too if you don't wash it off right away. I was worried about paying $8 dollars for some lotion, but now I'm glad I did.

And now, at the very least, I'm not scaring people with the pastiness of my legs!

Mama Loves Her Car!

My car has been nothing but good to me, and for that, I need to get a couple things to complete the package. For one, car seat covers! I have been known to have an ample amount of hair, and when any of it gets on my car it gets pretty annoying because then I have to lint roll it off. This solves the problem in a jiffy These are $24.99, but I should say there are some pretty nice generic fitting car seat covers (two bucket seat ones) for $11.99 at Costco right now! I bought some myself =)

I love love the radio, and I am partial to it when driving. But on longer rides especially, it's nice to listen to music without commercials. That's when I bust out the cord to connect my iPod to my car. Being that my car is a newer one, it has a jack that I just plug into the radio console and it plays my iPod once it's also hooked up to the iPod. There are versions of this, however, that you can plug into the cigarette lighter if you don't have the jack. $19.95

Besides the radio and my iPod, I also listen to CDs in the car. Why? Because I have a CD player in there and  now I have something to use my mix CDS from friends for after I download them to iTunes. This is super handy and just clips onto you visor. Bonus: it's only $5.29!

Father's Day Prezzies

Oh yeah bbs! Now that I'm back in action and summer has started, I am ready to blog on a more regular basis (watch me say that now, and then I drop off after a week. Oops.) Something that has been on my mind a lot is Father's Day, since it's just around the corner and my mother asks me every other day what I'm getting my dad on June 20th.

Something that my dad already has but that has served our family well is a GPS. Ours is named Lola (after the movie RV). My dad is actually really good at directions and managing not to get lost. However, we have to go everywhere at least once before we know how to get there, of course. This is where Lola comes in. It's expensive, but it's an investment. It's also helpful when you can locate the nearest gas station, grocery store, Home Depot, etc. $129.99

When I googled Father's Day presents, the main contenders were some sort of booze or golfing related things. My father participates in neither of those activities (he's more of a basketball and water guy). But if your dad is the kind who is into wine, this Wine of the Month Club might be a nice idea. $101.85

If your dad is more like mine, the meat eating kind that is, The Barbecue Boss Grilling Basket might be more apt. I took a test on this gift website, and it said my dad falls into the "Devoted Dad" category, which I would agree with, and apparently this falls into the "Manly Dad" category, but you know you can only give too many personalized poem frames before you just gotta go with meat. $59.99

Hope this helps!

Sheeee's Baaaacckk

This whole blog writing thang? It is long overdue, and I believe it is only fitting that I begin my foray into blogging by posting about poor Courtney's birthday, which happened on May 20th. Above is the group we had at the bonfire, minus about three people. I like this picture, because we look genuinely happy, and ready to do this rain or shine.
Here is Courtney and I's fave Chardin DA, Lucas. He does not have a facebook, but he is about to be plastered on my blog! Look at those gorgeous flowers Courtney got! They weren't from Lucas, but this picture makes it look like it.
Aww, even cuter. Despite Courtney's one eye.
Here is our group, with the successfully started fire. We had hot dogs and smore's. Not bad for a group who forgot matches, haha
This the beautiful cake that was made for Courtney's birthday. It was Tara the cake master's brainchild. Basically, Courtney loves the earth and she's from the City of Roses (or Portland) so it's perfect! Tara hand drew the earth on fondant and Lisa colored it in. I supervised? Well, I tried to help as much as possible.
This picture looks like a senior picture, but instead of a dumb fake flower, she's staring intently at the cake.
I made the mistake of eating a sugar rose, and my teeth were bright pink, but I refused to open  my mouth to show again.
Then I relented and stuck my tongue out a little. After all, Courtney only turns twenty once!

My Dearest Lovely Courtney,
Even though I know this is late, I am so glad I was around to help you celebrate your golden birthday. Despite your birthday mania, example---> Don't make any plans! It's a week before my birthday! It's two hours before my birthday! You can't, it's a quarter moon after my birrrttthhhday!!, I enjoyed the whole week and I hope you did too. I'm glad we met last year and I'm glad we've become so close.
Love, Ally
