Flying Ice on Freeways

That is literally one of the latest headlines on King 5 News online, which I rapidly flick to between Facebook and weather.com, since I am on day three being snowed in. I am literally going to have had a five day weekend by Monday.

Back up to Tuesday night. Not a flake in the sky or on the ground, I half believed there would be no snow despite the fact that 6-18 inches was forecast and there had been a really pink sunset with puffy clouds a few days prior (apparently that means snow is coming). But the weather men seemed so certain I went to bed with the intention of knowing there would be no class. Apparently, I had a lot of faith.

Seattle delivered. I want to say we got about 4-6 inches, and my parents were gifted with 6 or so inches (according to my dad, it was 8). Wednesday's classes were cancelled (this was after we had no class on Monday for MLK day).

I watched a lot of Netflix. Straightened my hair for like the first time in a month. Made myself pancakes for breakfast. Ventured out to the ATM, a task that normally takes like 15 minutes took 30 as I trudged through the snow. Plus, I don't have adequate snow gear, so I wear rain boots because they have the most traction and keep me dry.

I also got to make good use of the scarf and hat set, Mom, my maternal grandmother got me!

The days seem to blend together, but I've done a lot of housekeeping like dishes galore and cleaning my shower and sinks.

I've gotten in a good portion of The Help, as well as some reading for homework (emphasis on some).

I called Papa after he tweeted there was fudge, and told him he better save me a piece! Then I tried my hand at sledding (down James Street no less!) but I was too much of a scaredy cat plus I was too cold so I only went down once.

Day two, Thursday, I woke up at 6am to check my email, confirmed school was closed, and then went back to bed til 10am!

I've spent most of my days in pajamas or sweats. Though I did venture out last night to the Men's basketball game. We made it down and back in the men's basketball bus, which is nice, with chains. We got free pizza, free towels, and $10 to buy concessions for being at the game. In other words, I may be attending games more often.

School was cancelled today too, but I don't have class anyways.

Every day has basically been a pajama/personal day, but I'd say the major low point was my parents losing power for two days. No power, no heat, no food, and it was Daddy's birthday to boot! Luckily it has gone back on, but I thought I was going to have to perform a rescue mission and house them in my studio apartment!

All in all, I've enjoyed my time off and my break, but I am not looking forward to my workload next week and I want this slush to melt by tomorrow!
